The Northeast Consortium of Middle East Studies (NOCMES) invites the public to attend any and all of the below lecture by Dr. Ilan Pappe. The events will variously deal with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with a specific emphasis on the history of the establishment of the state of Israel and the politics of writing about it. Three of the four events are free and open to the public, taking place at three different university campuses. The fourth talk requires reservations and an admission fee.
Ilan Pappe is Professor of History and Director of the European Center for Palestinian Studies at the University of Exeter. He is formerly Senior Lecturer of Middle Eastern History and the Department of Political Science at Haifa University. He is a prolific author of more than twelve books, including The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine and The Idea of Israel.
